Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre and Sainte-Marie among the Hurons
sunday October 13
Join us for an adventurous day trip, exploring two fantastic locations in one day.
Our first stop is the Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre where we will hike on beautiful trails, observe local wildlife, and take in the serene natural surroundings. The Wye Marsh is known for its diverse range of habitats including wetlands, forests, and meadows, making it a prime location for bird watching and nature exploration.
After a quick bus ride, we will arrive at Sainte-Marie among the Hurons. This award-winning historical site is located in the heart of Georgian Bay. Originally the headquarters for the French Jesuit mission to the Huron-Wendat people, Sainte-Marie among the Hurons is now a living history museum. Costumed interpreters, daily demonstrations, and activities bring the 17th-century fenced community to life, immersing visitors in the story of the first Europeans to arrive and settle in Canada.
A visit includes a 15-minute video introduction in the theatre (available in English, French, and German), a self-guided tour of the recreated buildings, and a stop in the indoor museum and gift shop. You can also enjoy a quick snack at Restaurant Sainte-Marie.
Enjoy a day of exploration, discovery, and history in the great outdoors!
Easy: Relatively flat trails, with gentle inclines. Suitable for beginners.
