Spend a day with ActiveDays’ trip to Lion’s Head Provincial Park

Lion's Head Nature Reserve is one of our favorite destinations - one of the most beautiful places in Eastern North America, it boasts incredible views, geological wonders, and natural environment that is part of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. You can experience Lion's Head on a day trip - the bus will drop you off in the Village of Lion's Head at the Beach Campground (Forbes St), and you can walk about 15 minutes / 1km to the trailhead located at 5 McCurdy Drive. From there you can follow the Bruce Trail for approximately 4km to Lion's Head Lookout. See the trailhead map. PLEASE NOTE THAT MOORE ST SIDE TRAIL IS PERMANENTLY CLOSED.

If you stick with the group for the day you’ll have a relaxing mix of hiking with scenic views and good times. Also, participants are free to venture on their own with the responsibility to return to the group in time for the bus departure!

Trail Difficulty: Challenging. This hike takes place fully along the escarpment. Lots of rocks, ups and downs and moments when you need to use your hands to help climb up.

** When booking you MUST select the same date for both ways of the trip! Please indicate in the notes that you’ll be joining as part of ActiveDays **

ActiveDays guided hikes are only offered on July 8, 15, 30, August 12, September 2, 16

You can also opt out and choose to explore on your own. For all self-guided dates please see this page. If you are attempting this hike on your own, make sure you bring plenty of water, use appropriate footwear, and most importantly download the official Bruce Trail Map App, which will show you exactly where you are on the trail - so you won't get lost. Also learn how to identify Bruce Trail Blazes (trail markers on trees) - here is a handy legend.

If you hike on your own, please remember that you are responsible for your safety, and for making it back to the bus on time. There is limited cellphone reception on the trail, and the bus cannot wait for missing passengers - give yourself plenty of time, and if you make it back to town early, you can relax on a scenic sandy beach right in the Village, or grab early dinner at Lion's Head Inn - both located less than 5 min walk away from the bus pickup spot.
