Snow Day in High Park
Guided hike and activities in the snow
February 19, 2022
You don’t have to go far to have a good time in the snow!
It’s been a loooooong winter. And for many of us who love to spend it outdoors, it might feel like it’s been cut a little short. Not to worry, we’ve got just the thing to jumpstart your foray back into the great outdoors!
Come on out to our Snow Day in Highpark and spend the morning with expert (and very fun) Parkbus staff who will facilitate outdoor activities, put smiles on your faces and turn this city park into a winter wonderland! We’ll be kicking things off with a playful hike through High Park’s unique landscape and black oak savannah, engaging our senses and “breaking the ice” along the way. After this, Jeff and Ksenia will lead you through a series of fun activities to get in your body, and remember what its like to play!
Stick around at the end of the day for an optional hang out to eat lunch and swap stories together at the picnic tables. Bring something warm!

DAY SCHEDULE
10:00am - Meet at the Bloor Street entrance to High Park on the North Side of the Park. (Access via High Park Station main exit). Specific details will be sent out in your pre-departure email.
10:00 - 10:45am - Hike! Explore the old Oaks and unique landscapes of High Park. Make pit stops along the way to engage your senses and get into your bodies
11:00- 1:00pm - Play time! When was the last time you played tag? covered your eyes and let your other senses guide the way? This time is for games and activities to help you connect to your senses.
1:00 - 2:00pm optional social gathering and lunch
WHAT TO BRING?
Lunch. If you can, bring something warm in a thermos- This can make a big difference in staying warm on a cold day.
Tea (optional, but again great way to keep warm)
Water (at least 1.5L)
Medications
Winter boots / hat / scarf / mitts
Weather appropriate clothing- Layer up! Wool is great as a middle layer as it helps wick water away from the body and keep you warm.
Outer shell: Make sure to wear something for your outer layer that can handle getting snowy. This might look like some light waterproof pants over your base layer, snow pants, or even wool pants!
Whatever else you need to have fun on the trail :)
WHAT TO EXPECT WITH ACTIVEDAYS
To us, facilitating this event is about creating an environment that you can engage with in your own way. This is your experience and everyone has their own relationship with the outdoors and their bodies. We want to meet you where you are at — you can take part in the group activities OR choose your own adventure.
Active Days is also a community. This is an inclusive space to meet new people, share stories and have fun! To us, there is no better place to get to know someone than the outdoors. We all share a desire to get out, explore and move.
Hope to see you there!
