Cheltenham Badlands, Silver Creek Group Hike
Visit some of ontario’s most unique terrain
August 11, 2019
Open again after months of being closed to the public, the Cheltenham Badlands are a rare site to behold!
ActiveDays is taking advantage of this truly unique destination to build a day of hiking and discovery! The Cheltenham Badlands is famous for it’s beautiful landscape of barren, red rock exposed after years of erosion. Due to its uniqueness, the park itself had to close down as too many people wanted to explore its trails.
Now, after many months the badlands have opened back up partially and offer a short hike to a viewing platform where we can get a true taste of the ecosystem.
Luckily this conservation area is just a short jaunt from many other gems in the Credit Valley Conservation Area. On this trip participants will get to explore 2 different parks.
At Silver Creek Conservation Area we’ll hike a great section of the Bruce Trail that explores the headwaters of Silver Creek. This trail passes babbling brooks and tracks through escarpment valleys, scenic lookouts and lush forests.
From here we’ll head to the Badlands for a view of the unique landscape.
Come out and make new friends, visit new places and see how the outdoors is closer to the city than you think.
Difficulty Level: The terrain at Silver Creek Conservation Area can be rugged, rocky and hilly. This is an intermediate level of hiking.

ActiveDays is also a community. This is an inclusive space to meet new people, share stories and have fun! To us, there is no better place to get to know someone than the outdoors. We all share a desire to get out, explore and move.
