Algonquin Park Winter Snow Day

Snowshoe, Hike and Explore the gorgeous wilds of algonquin

March 1, 2020

Come explore the famous Algonquin Park through the quiet of winter!

Algonquin Park is the reason many nature loving people travel to Ontario each year. Bigger than the state of Deleware this gem of Ontario hosts over 2400 lakes and hundreds of thousands of hectares of forest!

Many people know Algonquin as a summer camping destination or for its famous display of fall colours, but there is also a quiet beauty that happens in the park durring the winter. Plus- there are lots of fun things to do!

Join ActiveDays as we head to the Track and Tower trail for an afternoon of snowshoeing, following animal tracks, and playing in the snow.

We’ll be making a stop at Algonquin Outfitters to pick-up our snowshoe rentals. Should you have your own snowshoes you can opt out of the rentals during registration which will lower the cost of your booking.

Trail Difficulty: The winter portion of the Track and Tower Trail is rated as intermediate. We’ll be doing a 5km loop which, if you’re familiar with the trail, does NOT include the 100 or so stairs!.

Bonus!: If there is time at the end of the day we’ll make a little stop at one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the area: Ragged Falls

  • Tea (optional but, again, a great way to keep warm)

  • Winter boots / Hat / Scarf / Mitts

  • Water (at least 1.5L)

  • Snowshoes if you have them otherwise we’ll be stopping at Arrowhead to pick them up.

To us, facilitating this event is about creating an environment that you can engage with in your own way. This is your experience and everyone has their own relationship with the outdoors and their bodies. We want to meet you where you are at — you can take part in the hike, or wander off on your own adventure.

ActiveDays is also a community. This is an inclusive space to meet new people, share stories and have fun! To us, there is no better place to get to know someone than the outdoors. We all share a desire to get out, explore and move.

All ActiveDays participants are required to sign a waiver. We will bring printed copies of the waiver to sign on the bus. You can find a digital copy of a sample waiver HERE
