Birds of Algonquin Park
Saturday August 21, 2021
Enjoy Scenic Trails Appreciating Birds in Their Natural Habitat!
Join us for a full day guided birding trip in the crown jewel of Ontario’s Provincial Park system, Algonquin Provincial Park. We will explore the various habitats of Algonquin Park searching for birds and also learning about the ecology, wildlife, and history of the park. From the Sugar Maple dominated Western Highlands, to the Black Spruce Bogs which give Algonquin Park its more Northern Boreal flavour. We will try to find birds such as Canada Jay, Spruce Grouse, the many warblers, plus other goodies like Black-backed Woodpecker and more common favourites like Black-capped Chickadees, Red-breasted Nuthatches, Common Ravens, Blue Jays etc. Bring some high-quality bird seed such as Black-oiled Sunflower to try your luck feeding the birds by hand.
Your tour guide Josh McCullough, will be able to offer helpful tips with camera settings for those interested in photographing birds (Bring a telephoto lens). Bring your own birding or other naturalist field guides to review as we explore and find birds!
Tune into your sense of adventure and join us in this epic experience!
