Eugenia Falls

sunday july 21

Join us on a hike to Eugenia Falls in the beautiful Grey Highlands, Ontario. Nestled in the scenic Niagara Escarpment, this trail offers a great blend of natural beauty, fascinating history, and rich flora and fauna. The hike begins on a well-marked trail that winds through lush forests, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. As we explore two waterfalls: Eugenia and Hoggs on the way, we will encounter a variety of local flora such as maple and oak trees.

Eugenia Falls boasts a rich historical significance in the Beaver Valley area. When first discovered, the falls had more water rushing over the edge, and the indigenous people called it the falls Ke-waid-dun-dat, meaning Sparkling Waters. In 1853, Sandy Brownlee discovered what he thought was gold embedded in the rocks in the gorge below, sparking a short-lived gold rush.

The waterfall plunges 30 meters into a deep gorge, creating a mesmerizing spectacle of water and mist.

Explore the diverse landscape and view as we hike through this scenic area. Don’t miss this opportunity to discover one of Ontario’s hidden gems and immerse yourself in the wonders of Eugenia Falls.

Intermediate: Rocky terrain with some elevation. Suitable for hikers with some experience and basic fitness level.
